The ACLED API (Application Programming Interface) has been developed to enable the integration of ACLED data with other websites, software and applications. The API is RESTful in nature and is accessed via Basic HTTP(S) authentication.

API calls may be made in any standard browser or using any programmatic language that is capable of making HTTP requests. The User Guide introduces the API, highlights Sample API Calls and Responses and outlines the list of Commands and Query Filters to retrieve data.

ACLED conflict and protest data for African states from 1997 – realtime are made available through the API. Realtime data for 2017 are collected and uploaded each Monday on a weekly basis.
